If you feel like you're being stared at and you look up and sure enough your animal friend is looking at you, it could be a sign of boredom! If you are preoccupied with tv, computer or phone they may be wondering why you're not noticing them. If they have been indoors all day and you're coming in from a long day out, they have pent up energy and want to connect with you in playtime, walking, going for a ride, anything that the two of you can do together and be in the moment without distraction.

Often we're so busy multitasking that our animals are just waiting on us to be done and connect with them. They oftentimes just have us. We are not just seen as their feeder but also the exercise partner, explorer of new neighborhoods and territories, play partner, singing and vocalizing partner, best friend, mom or dad, their world! Doing right by them and providing them with positive mental stimulation, exercise, play, connection and seeing them for who they truly are requires getting quiet and being present with them. From here you can tap into your own inner calmness, silliness and the beautiful place in your heart where true love resides. This allows us to see not only our animal but ourselves and all others with more acceptance, compassion and love. This calm and quietness from within helps us to pause if even for a few moments to really see our animal for who they are. The love and joy they are bringing to us is a gift for us, a moment to meet them in a place where pure unconditional love and acceptance exists.
